Tailgate in Style with Lawry's!
I've gotten a lot of hate messages on Instagram already, so let me preface this post of by saying... No, I did not abandon USC. I love USC! I just happened to be at a UCLA football game, which is also my alma mater for undergrad studies so don't freak out. Haha. You guys are so passionate about crosstown rivarlies. I keep on getting asked which school do I have more of an affinity for? Well... haha let's keep that a secret. I'd be more than happy to share off the record, but let's stay objective for this post. Yeah? =)
Who doesn't love Lawry's? It's always been one of my must-go to restaurants especially during Dine LA since it's such a great deal. I also love visiting Lawry's Carvery in the South Coast Plaza. But did you know you can actually party, eat, and tailgate with Lawry's at the Pasadena Rose Bowl? How cool is that?I was invited to by Lawry's to go and check out the UCLA vs. Memphis game at the Rose Bowl. I imagine that meant prime rib and creamed corn, right? There were so many booths to check out at the tailgate. I walked towards the fan zone and suddenly I saw this beauty...Wait! Stop! Are you telling me there's unlimited Lawry's prime rib? I think this must be heaven! What's cool about Lawry's tailgates is that the menu, which is inspired by their Executive Chef Walter Eckstein, changes each time. The signature dishes stay the same, however the appetizers and drinks are themed to match whoever USC or UCLA is playing! Since UCLA was playing Memphis, the side dishes were made to fit a Memphis BBQ theme.
Here's a close up of the cocktail menu. For the Bruin game, Lawry's created a Asombroso Bruins Margarita. Of course it was Bruin Blue! I love how they also had 'College Water'. Oh college life! Those were the days! Now I just eat all day long. Well, I guess not much has changed for me since college. This is literally what every single one of my plates looked like. I think I had about 5 plates. I'm actually drooling right now just thinking about it! The stand out dish for me actually really surprised me. I fell in love with the jalapeño corn bread. The cinnamon spread that the servers suggested I use was amazing. It was a party in my mouth. Wow! I also got some game tickets as well to check out the UCLA football after the tailgate. Lawry's tailgate is actually extremely affordable. It's only $75. $75 for all you can eat Lawry's and all you can drink full bar for 3 hours. What a steal! That's less than you'll spend on a night out of the town. They also have deals for those that want to buy a tailgate package and tickets for the game. You can order your tickets here! If you're not into football or prefer not to watch the game there live, you can just go to the tailgate and eat and drink! It was a gorgeous evening. I was one of the last people still at the Lawry's tailgate trying to scarf down as much food as I possibly could. That failed miserably because I was so full. I felt like I had to be rolled out of there. Ran into this guy with a funny shirt. My poor Trojans! The view from the field was beautiful. It was the perfect weather. I was so full from great food.
I had a fabulous time at the Lawry's Tailgate. I want to thank them for inviting me to check it out! I can't wait to go back. If you love Lawry's and partying, then definitely go check them out. Football season has just begun, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to join in on the fun. Check out Lawry's site for the schedule for football season!
Go BRUINS!
and FIGHT ON Trojans!
Happy Eatings!
