SpireWorks Grand Opening
The food is all about where doner. Chefs cook doner kebab on a vertical spit and slice the meat off to serve it expect it's served in a build-your-own bowl or sandwich way. The restaurant's COO, Jeff Rosenthal along with the founder Bob Kaufman, traveled to Turkey and Germany and tried more than 50 different doner kebabs for research. They ultimately worked with Michelin-star chefs to create their final menu. You know I love a good theme and Spireworks is themed to a 'T'. The restaurant names its meals after destinations, like “New York,” “Carolina” and “Little Italy.” Here I ordered the "The Carolina" with chicken, smokey BBQ sauce, Cabernet tomatoes, angel hair carrots, Collard Green coleslaw, pickled Cauliflower, and topped with BBQ Shaker (seasoning) on fresh baked bread. Each destination can also be made as a bowl. Here's the "New York" bowl with wild rice (& fresh greens), beef, Russian dressing, sauerkraut, shaved Parmesan, cucumber spirals, angel hair beets, and topped with a New York shaker (flavor seasoning). In lieu of fries, SpireWorks does something even better! I know. I know. What can be better than fries? Dutch baby potatoes seasoned with your choice of destination seasonings! They are addicting and so so delicious. Best part is the soda. I don't normally drink soda, but I make an exception for quality soda. The Stubborn Fair Trade Certified Cane Sugar Soda Black Cherry flavor was my drink of choice. That was until... I was introduced to my new favorite drink...Chef Kuniko created this Okinawa Raw Sugar Sea Salt Nitro Latte. Think of it as Bailey's and coffee harmoniously melted into one perfect cup. I would drink to Westwood just for this. That is how amazing this drink is. Get it and get it fast because I am coming for it! SpireWorks also serves these rolled pastries filled with sweet cream called “SpireCakes.” They come in various flavors like Ducle de Leche and Tiramisu.
Overall, SpireWorks is a go for me! I like the setup. I love the theme. It's perfect for the wanderlust traveler in you. The food is good, but the coffee is out of this world! This is the first location, but their upcoming Eagle Rock location will be opening sometime in January. I was also told that each shop will have its very own distinct theme. I wonder what their theme will be?
