Weekend Brunching At Public School
Who wants to go back to school? I never thought I'd hear myself saying yes to that! I first wrote about Public School a bit back on LAist talking about the gourmet spin they were putting on classics at their revamped 213 Downtown location. And now, Public School is upping their game with their unique Weekend Brunch and $10 bottomless mimosas, beer-mosas, micheladas and bloody marys! As usual their menus are in composition style notebooks. The weekend brunch menu is even printed on a scantron! I haven't seen a scantron in years. Who ever thought I'd actually miss seeing them? The attention to detail at Public School never fails to impress. Some of the more unique items on the brunch menu include the Eggs Benedict Pizza, the Chicken Sausage and Cheddar Grits, the Fried Jidori Chicken and Green Chili Cornbread Waffles, among others. There's also the X factor dish, which is the Stuffed French Toast creation of the day depending on the chef. The mimosas are to die for! You can taste the difference when good ingredients are used. Once you walk in to PS 213 for brunch, you see the jarfuls of fresh squeezed OJ. Toss in some sparkling wine, Thatcher's blood orange, and you have some really tasty mimosas!I ended up ordering the chef's Stuffed French Toast special of the day, which was stuffed with prosciutto emmental and béchamel sauce, then topped with two eggs. Everything you love in one dish. Eat now. Worry later. Public School never fails to impress in the food department. If you haven't gone yet, you seriously need to pay them a visit. After finishing our gigantic plates of food, my friend Soyoung and I ended up playing some games. Giant Jenga or Giant Connect Four? The struggle is real. As usual, I had a blast at Public School. I will definitely be coming back for their weekend brunch. I recommend anyone that loves brunch to check them out. Choose between PS 213 (DTLA), PS 818 (Sherman Oaks), PS 310 (Culver City) or PS 805 (Thousand Oaks) depending on which location is closest for you. Each location pays great attention to detail to their school theme. It'd a great conversation starter and an overall really fun place to go for good food and drinks. $10 bottomless drinks? Check! Instagram worthy food? Check! Games? Check! Don't forget, Public School at its core is a gastropub, so if you can't make brunch do consider them for happy hour, lunch, or dinner as well. They have plenty of beers on tap to choose from and constantly rotating seasonal dishes that are sure to please.
