DTLA Night Market Recap
First things, first I have to say I had such a ball meeting so many of my followers in person! So great to put a face to a name. Okay onto the rest... Can I just say that 626 Night Market will always be the best location? 626! DTLA is a tough venue. LA County has a tendency to not be punctual so many of the vendors were not able to start on time. Hungry people = Angry people. I was prepared though. I arrived at 4 pm start time with an umbrella! Everyone first was looking at me like I was being really strange, but then those looks changed to envy real quick! I'm a night market expert by now!
(The struggle is real. I'm glad there are other people out there that understand me!)
I swear each time I see Mama Musubi their lines gets longer and longer! This was the line after it died down! You know a place has good food when they've been with the 626 Night Market since Day 1 and still have insane lines. Props to Carol and Philip! One of the best things I had a the night market was Chef Jay Terauchi's poke operating from Mama Musubi's booth! Didn't know about the secret menu? That means you haven't been actively following me! Here's the scoop you missed out on! Only $7! How amazing does this look? I'm seriously drooling about it just staring at the picture right now! I really hope this becomes a regular item. I know a lot of hard work went into preparing such a fresh and tasty meal. Let's keep our fingers crossed! Ok, but can we talk about the drink???I never thought about getting this drink. I hate drinks that taste like sugar was free or something. People like to add so much syrup that it tastes so artificial but OMG!!! This watermelon strawberry lemonade from Mama Musubi is my new favorite drink! Refreshing, the perfect amount of sweetness! I need one right now.
Of course I had to get a musubi as well! I was so excited to finally try Japadog. -__- The name still peeves me. They came all the way from Canada. I had been holding on off going to the LA truck because I knew I wanted to try the original one at the DTLA Night Market. The Terimayo hot dog with Teriyaki sauce, Japanese mayo, and seaweed was also a favorite. The Ramen Burger collaboration with La Sriracha Macha was so effing good! You get the deliciousness of the original ramen burger we all know and love plus the heat and the seasoning from La Sriracha Macha! Can I just tell you how much I love this hot sauce? I've seriously been putting it on everything and anything. My mouth is on fire, but I can't stop. It's not spicy just for the sake of being spicy. The Mexican peppers fused with a Sriracha taste makes it the perfect condiment! I've been putting it on my paella and tacos at home! Don't come near me. I'm guarding this bottle with my life! Our Ramen Burger toast! That's a thing, right? Look at the wusses that got the original! Spice it up guys!I got to try LotZA Tots' Uni Cream Tater Tots! Fried foods and uni? This was the ultimate food porn! Thank you LotZA Tots for being so nice! I was originally really worried about the flavor being too artificial or not getting enough of the uni taste, but this was a must-get! I'm really sad for anyone who didn't get the chance to stop by their booth! I stopped by The Paella Artisan for their paella! Their booth smelled so good! Chef Manuel was so kind!I also got their pomegranate sangria to cool down. No alcohol in this version! Dropped by Banzai Jerky to try their Spicy Teri Bacon Jerky. So good. Guilty pleasure. The sauce was absolute perfection! They had me at bacon! Sold! I wish there were more pieces in a bag. I didn't realize I would finish it so quickly. Had to support the Dragon Whisker people! It's such an art form that I feel like you really need to help out people who are still continuing this craft!
Frostbites was also a great way to end the meal(s) with! I loved all the different combinations you could make. So nice of them to let me taste test all the most popular flavors. I wish I wasn't so full. I would have bought a cup! I'll definitely be back for more though!
I wish I was able to eat and try more things. I was stuffed. One item I was looking forward to trying but didn't get to was the Ramen Pizza from Umaya Ramen. They were one of the vendors that weren't able to get up and running for a bit of time with the delay. Hopefully they'll be a next time!
