Boston Seafood Time

I recently jetted to Boston for a quick trip non-work related to celebrate my nephew's 2nd birthday. How adorable is he with my mom?Ethan 2nd Birthday Party-27We had a lovely few days together and although I didn't get to do a lot of sight-seeing and eating, it was tons of fun. Besides, I think I'm over the touristy side of Boston. It's all about visiting Boston to spend time with my nephew these days. One of the restaurants I do always make time to frequent each time I'm in Boston is Neptune's Oyster. It's also one of the restaurants I have a love-hate relationship with. Great food, expensive prices, and really crappy seating.

IMG_8992Raw oysters are always a must. I always love the oyster recommendations the staff at Neptune Oyster gives. I ended up ordering the Island Creek, Glidden Point Raw, and Kumamoto Raw Oysters.  IMG_8989For my entree, I decided to try something I had never ordered before from Neptune Oyster. I ordered the fish and chips. Wow. Just wow. These fish and chips were amazing. The batter was crispy and perfectly fried. The fish was well seasoned and moist. The flavor came across extremely well. One problem sometimes fish and chips have is the oil they fry it in is old and you can taste the aftertaste. Another issue is that the batter overtakes the flavor of the fish because some restaurants use fish that isn't great quality because they just cover the flavor with batter. This fish was fresh. The only thing I wasn't crazy about were their fries.  I wish I replaced it with something else. IMG_9001Lastly, I ordered a hot lobster roll. Typically I love me a cold lobster roll. The weather was so hot, but how could I say no to a hot lobster roll with drawn butter. It's so good that you can eat the lobster off of the roll with a fork and then take a bite of the bread that has a lobster flavor soaked in it!

Neptune Oyster is tiny. You feel like you're sitting in a fish bowl shoulder to shoulder with the person next to you. Despite its downfalls,  I still find myself coming back to Neptune Oyster each time. I love how they take your cell phone number and call you when your table is ready. I wouldn't recommend going here on the weekend or during peak hours. The wait can go up to 90 minutes.
