Under The Bright Lights: Skin Care Post
Over the years, I've gotten a lot of questions about what skincare and makeup I use since I'm on camera a lot. I'm not brand loyal by any means, but I think that may also be because I've never found any product I couldn't live without. I switch back and forth constantly between brands. I find myself rotating between Koh Gen Do, Skin Food, Etude House, Clinque, various Korean BB creams, Tarte, La Mer, Cle de Peau, etc.
On a normal day, I don't wear makeup at all. If I'm going out for a meeting or need to look more 'presentable' then I'll throw on some BB Cream. I always feel very unnatural when I'm filming because I have thick, HD makeup on. My biggest concern is whether or not I'm taking everything off my skin once work is over. I'm one of those people who does a ton of research before I buy anything skin related, so I was looking for a oil based makeup remover that would be gentle on my skin and easily take off all my heavy makeup. I started looking up reviews on different brands for a good oil based makeup remover so I could follow up with a regular cleanser to double cleanse after work. I finally settled on Tatcha, a brand that prides itself on quality and safe ingredients that are good for your skin. This is the Discovery kit of the geisha with trial size of the brand's best goodies. The kit came with the One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil that I really wanted to try, but also Rice Enzyme Powder packets, a Deep Brightening Serum, and a Moisture Rich Silk Cream. What attracted me to Tatcha products were that were non-irritating, non-sensitizing, and dermatologist tested. What I also loved was how high-end the packaging was. The Moisture Rich Silk Cream packaging reminded me of La Mer. So nice! After a 12+ hour day of shooting on set. Hair up, ready to take off my make up!This is me using the One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil. It's made with a blend of camellia and rice bran oils. The cleansing oil really did melt away all my makeup, even the waterproof makeup! See my mascara and eyeliner slowly melting off my face? My skin was left feeling so fresh and so clean! I didn't believe all the reviews that I had read about the makeup just melting off. I can attest that it really did. I didn't even need to clean again with regular cleanser after! I was extremely impressed with this product and I will be using this from now on to take my makeup off because it works! My face didn't feel like a oil slick after either!
I also followed up with the Rice Enzyme Powder packets. The enzyme powder exfoliated my skin and left it soft as a baby's bottom. My skin also had a light glow afterwards as well. I had previously used Amore Pacific's Enzyme Peel and Tatcha's was just as good. I haven't used the Deep Brightening Serum and Moisture Rich Silk Cream enough to give a comprehensive review, so I will be sure to update when I do. Tatcha was nice enough to send me their all-natural leaflet blotting sheets as well. I decided to take them out with me for a shoot I was doing and compare them to another no-name brand's. This is what happened...
Tatcha's Blotting Sheet absorbed all my excess oil without disturbing my makeup. At first I just thought the only difference was that Tatcha's oil sheets had gorgeous gold, fancy flakes. After taking the sheets on a 12+ hour shoot though, I could tell that Tatcha's sheets were much more absorbent and kept shine away longer than the other ones I had tried. I didn't have to blot after using Tatcha for another few hours! The sheets also did not strip away any moisture. I was so impressed!
Tatcha also sent me a sample of their Lifting Facial Mask. It's supposed to be super hydrating since it's made with a proprietary red algae blend that is supposed to make skin softer, firmer, and brighter. I can't wait to try everything else and report back. Big thank you to Tatcha for sending me their Discovery Kit. Disclaimer: I was not paid in any way shape or form for this review.
