TLT Food Joins the SGV in Pasadena
From the owner and culinary artist behind The Lime Truck (The Great Food Truck Race, 2011 Winner), Daniel Shemtob brings his delicious eats to TLT Food. The food-truck-turned-eatery specializes in over-the-counter taqueria fare done with a Pan-Asian twist. They officially open to the public this Thursday, August 11th at 11 am. I was fortunate enough to be invited to the media preview prior to the opening to have a taste. And let me tell you... it was good! Bookmark this and put this on your list! I know you have one! Pictured: Short Rib Grilled Cheese, Poblano Chicken Nachos, Beet Salad, Lamb Sliders, and Grilled Corn. My favorite dish of the night was the ceviche appetizer! It's called the Cali Ceviche and it's made with Cauliflower, Avocado, Lime, Red Onion, Cilantro, Jalapeño. Dipped with corn Tortilla Chips. This was healthy and so flavorful. I also really enjoyed the Seared Ahi Tuna Taco topped with Chipotle-Honey Slaw, Spicy Lime-Sambal Sauce, Chipotle-Honey Aioli, Cilantro, and lime. These nachos were the bomb dot com. No joke. Pork Belly Nachos with Braised Pork Belly, Pico de Gallo, Cheese Sauce, Fresh Tortilla Chips. Are you drooling yet?If the Pork Belly Nachos aren't your thing, I'd recommend trying the Poblano Chicken Nachos. The Braised Poblano Chicken is topped with Sweet Corn, Cheese Sauce, Crispy Jalapeños, Homemade Guac, and Cotija Cheese, and slathered on the chips. If you're looking for a rice dish, I'd go with the Green Rice Bowl. It's filled with Chimichurri Rice, Pickled Veggies, Miso Radish, Furikake, Sesame, Sambal, Cilantro. You have the choice to pick a protein out of the following: Pork Belly, Steak, Short Rib, Carnitas, Crispy Tofu, Ahi Tuna. This is a tad spicy so just FYI in case you don't have a high tolerance. My favorite of the entrees was this Short Rib Grilled Cheese with Braised Beef Short Rib, Spicy Lime-Sambal Sauce, Grilled Onions, Cheese Blend, Cotija Crusted Sourdough. The short rib melted in my mouth. It was just the right about of savoriness. Two big thumbs up! If a sandwich isn't for you, there's also the Short Rib Quesadilla that is topped with a Cheese Blend, Pico de Gallo, Chipotle-Honey Aioli, Cotija Cheese Topping.
I am also obsessed with their fresh fruit limeades. Today's fresh fruit were the Cool Coconut and Blueberry Bliss! We even added some alcohol in for good measure, right?
All in all, I'm so glad TLT will now be in the San Gabriel Valley! You'll see me there often! Expect lots of seasonal food and look forward to $3 Taco Tuesdays, and Bottomless Mimosas as well.
