New Winter Menu Hits BOA Steakhouse
BOA Steakhouse clearly needs no introduction. It’s a Los Angeles landmark, a celebrity and foodie hot spot as well, but one of the reasons I love returning to BOA is because they constantly change things up. I recently visited the Santa Monica BOA location to taste their new winter season menu from Executive Chef Jose Melendez. It did not disappoint. Here's what I ate. Pan seared scallops with sunchoke, chanterelle, baby leek, shellfish froth. Do you love scallops? If you do, you definitely need to make it out to try the new winter menu! The scallops are juicy. There's nothing worse than overcooked seafood. One of the most unique dishes that I had during the dinner was this smoked salmon accompanied by a potato dill waffle. Chicken and waffles is so yesterday. It's all about smoked salmon and potato dill waffles! This was like a delicious, new, and modern take on lox and chicken and waffles. I approve! No it's not guacamole. It's the garlic smashed broccoli from Boa's winter menu. I annihilated this. This was absolutely delectable. I highly recommend it. The star of the night was the Prime 21 Day Dry Aged Tomahawk Steak. I literally felt like Fred Flintstone. Intense! And that wasn't the only meat on the menu. I also had filet mignon. Thanksgiving may be over, but that doesn't mean to say goodbye to butternut squash. The Chipotle Lime Butternut Squash was divine. I loved the toasted seeds and the hint of lime on top was definitely the frosting on top. If you love potatoes, make sure to get the horseradish potato gratin. Layers upon layers of potatoey goodness. Yes, I know I made up a word. And for those with a sweet tooth, don't forget to make room for dessert! I wish I could have had one of each of the desserts, but I tapped out after two. I'm obsessed with apple pie so obviously this apple crumble hit the spot. The icy vanilla ice cream on the hot apple crumble. Drool. Don't forget to dig your spoon down the Pot de Creme so that you get all the layers of chocolate pudding goodness with each bite. Other interesting new items on the Winter Menu include that I would have loved to try include the Roasted Marrow Bones with gremolata and Braised Short Ribs with grits among others.
There’s also seasonal twists on steakhouse classics, such as Mac N Cheese with housemade boursin topped with a housemade Ritz cracker crust. I can't wait to return and try some of the other winter menu items I wasn't able to get to yet.
