Kawaii Piggy Dimsum
How adorable are these pig buns? If you're a follower of my Instagram account you know that I've been making Shi Hai a frequent dimsum joint. Although it isn't my favorite dimsum location, the newly opened restaurant is quickly becoming part of my consistent dimsum rotation. By the way, these pig buns are not even on the menu. It's part of their secret menu they haven't rolled out yet. The inside is filled with warm, purple yam goodness.
I do like that Shi Hai has many unique items that other dimsum restaurants do not carry. I've also grown accustomed to the no-carts/we don't steam it 'til you order it dimsum. What's also great for non-Chinese reading folk is their easy to understand picture menu of all their choices. 
Unfortunately though, even though Shi Hai just opened their menu translations are already wrong. At least it's not Chinglish! 
Exhibit A: Apricot dessert. They meant almond. Not the biggest faux par.
Shi Hai originally opened and was so expensive that people were extremely turned off. They are now running a Monday-Friday 40% off the total bill special which has been attracting lots of crowds. The staff also told me they have no intention of ending the special in the foreseeable future. I personally would not frequent Shi Hai if it were not for their 40% off, but with the deal it makes it a-ok in my book!
