I'm on LAist Sharing How I Pack My Suitcase to Visit Friends and Family!
The above picture is a picture of one of the actual suitcases I took to Boston to visit my sister. Food is important ya'll!
Excerpt of the article:
I never realized how spoiled I was until the first time I visited my sister in college over a decade ago. It turns out that in some parts of the country, there is not an amazing Asian bakery located on every corner. My older sister left sunny and perfect Los Angeles for Boston for some reason. Oh, right: Harvard. Who wants to go there anyway?
Although Boston is by no means a city in the middle of nowhere, for me—someone whose entire day revolves around food—its lack of Asian cuisine most definitely did not meet my standards. Then again, I’m also the person that chose my college and grad school based on its proximity to the best food.
So three or more times a year, when I fly to visit my sister and nephew, I bring with me suitcases full of food. Here are some of the items I bring to my sister when I visit and where you can get them.
I'm honored that LAist wanted me to share my foodie ways with the world and if I do say so myself I think I sure did deliver! Some favorites people have been asking me about have been the Multi-layered Indonesian Butter Cake, Singaporean Beef Jerky, Singaporean/Malaysian Kaya Coconut Jam, and Pork Floss, to name a few. So to find out more about how you can pack like me for trips, check out the full article here.
Your friends will love you! I promise!
Disclaimer: I've been getting quite a few of hate comments on the article on how I'm disrespecting Boston and calling my sister 'poor'. Oh dear... lol I think those people definitely missed the sarcastic tone of the piece. But a big thank you to those who decided to defend me. You guys are the best!
