Gyu-Kaku Launches Special Set Menu for Sakura Festival

Gyu-Kaku Launches Special Set Menu for Sakura Festival

IMG_3668It's time for Gyu-Kaku's annual Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Festival Dinner Sets! The new set menu began March 14th and will run until April 21st! So obviously Sakura Festival is a beautiful time in Japan with all the cherry blossoms in full bloom ya da ya da ya da... But the big question is "What specials is Guy-Kaku running?" Is the special menu worth it? Is it good? Don't worry, that's what I'm here for! IMG_3666The Sakura Fest menu features 3 apps+ 6 courses of their most popular yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) + dessert for $55 total for 2 people. It's definitely a great deal and it takes the hassle out of deciding how much food and what to order because you get a good helping of everything. Gyu-Kaku was nice enough to invite me to preview the Sakura Fest menu before it launched a few days ago. Here's what you'll be eating! To see pictures of all the dishes, you can look up the hashtag #SakuraGyuKaku.

For starters we had the Gyu-Kaku salad, fried calamari, and slow cooked Angus Burger Bites. The sauce on the burger bites made an excellent dressing on white rice. Just FYI to all my carb lovers out there! I know I'm not the only one! IMG_3692Believe it or not, this Peach Sparkling Sake Jelly was one of the highlights of the meal! Yes, the Japanese BBQ and appetizers were hitting the spot, but this brought back childhood memories. Did you ever sat those Asian jellies when you were a kid? This is like an adult version of those jelly bites! There were chunks of jelly floating inside the sparkling peach sake. Such a fun drink! I want more right now just thinking about it! IMG_3712And then the Yakiniku just kept coming...IMG_3717and coming...IMG_3704and coming...

I had Pork Belly, Yaki Shabu Beef Miso, Premium Rib Eye, Shrimp and Garlic, a Mushroom Medley, Bistro Hanger Steak Miso. IMG_3727At this point I had to loosen up my pants. I was so full, but they brought out a bonus item for us just to sample. This is their Kobe beef slices. It was delicious as expected and melted in my mouth!IMG_3735And finally for dessert, there was a Green tea Mont Blanc cake with vanilla ice cream to share between two people, which was more than enough.

Overall, I think it's a great deal. Three appetizers and 6 courses of their most popular yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) + dessert for $55 total for 2 people. I would definitely come back before April 21st to enjoy this with more friends. This deal will be available at all Gyu-Kakus so make sure to check it out.
