GD Bro Burger's Red Buns Are All The Craze

GD Bro Burger's Red Buns Are All The Craze

IMG_9610I've been all around Orange County recently more often than my usual once a month and it's been so much fun meeting so many of you readers and visiting fun restaurants in the area. I love OC and I hope to be back more often. Today's spotlight goes to GD Bro Burger. You may recognize the name GD Bro Burger from Food Network's Great Food Truck Race. The truck is known for these super bright red buns that are both intriguing and terrifying at the same time. So after I learned that the Afters Ice Cream Dream Team (Scott and Andy) invested in the restaurant, I knew I had to go and try the trademark red bun. IMG_9594First off, shout out for the clever signs for being such an social media-friendly venue with funny signs all over. You know I loved that. Let me tell you how stunned I was by this green drink. This was called the Popeye Lemonade, which is made with spinach! It was delicious! I know the combination sounds disgusting, but you need to go and try it right now. I'm literally drooling just thinking of it. IMG_9601The "Juan & Only" burger with jalapeño cream cheese, pico de gallo, and avocado chipotle mayo on a raspberry bun. One of the most popular burgers to get is the Juan & Only. It's food porn at its best. The biggest surprise aside from the Popeye Lemonade, was how subtle, moist, and tasty the red bun was.  The brioche-like red burger bun had a faint raspberry flavor and went very well with the meat. I was so skeptical considering all the news about the crazy Halloween Black Whopper that is giving everyone green poop. Highly recommend! IMG_9694The underdog for me of the meal was the Italian Stallion, which was laden with mozzarella sticks, pepperoni and spinach, pizza sauce, and ranch. I thought that the mozzarella sticks would be way too rich to be on a burger with pizza sauce, but wow. This combination may have even beat the Juan & Only in my book. Blown away! IMG_9596Parmesan truffle fries. Wow. The fries are bomb. I could have eaten these all day. Worth getting your hands dirty and greasy for these babies!IMG_9597Another very interesting item on the GD Bro menu was the Korean Poutine Burger. The burger has  1/3 lb Chuck/short loin, melted mozzarella cheese, Korean marinated short rib, house-made gravy, & pickled red onion with sesame seeds and chives. You can imagine just how full I was, but then I heard about the Consuela fries, which are basically the Juan & Only in the form of french fries. Dammit. IMG_9696Here's the beauty herself. I present to you Ms. Consuela herself. Take a look at the melted Pepper Jack Cheese over a bed of perfectly fried Cajun Fries with chipotle mayo with freshly chopped pico de gallo and topped with avocado. Wow what a mouthful! GD Bro Burger's beef patties are very tasty. They are very thick and extremely juicy. All the burgers run around $8 - $11. GD Bro is worth the hype. Each burger is thoughtfully designed and the ingredients used go together very well. And of course, they have a great sense of humor a la their wall designs.

GD Bro Burger is located at 2321 E 4th St, Santa Ana, CA 92705. To follow me on all my food adventures don't forget to check in with me on Twitter and Instagram! Happy Eating!
